The color measurement of a liquid is the evaluation of that liquid's color properties. This is usually done through visual means, but can also be done by through automated means. The former provides approximate data, while the latter can provide objective data on the color properties of any given liquid.. Measurement. Visual color measurement is the conventional and usual form of liquid color. The colour order systems are of three types (Wyszecki, ): Colorant-mixture system based on subtractive mixture of colorants e.g. Pantone ; Colour-mixture system based on additive mixture of colour stimuli e.g. Ostwald system. Colour appearance system based on the principles of colour perception or colour appearance e.g. Munsell.
Colorimetry is "the science and technology used to quantify and describe physically the human color perception." It is similar to spectrophotometry, but is distinguished by its interest in reducing spectra to the physical correlates of color perception, most often the CIE XYZ color space tristimulus values and related quantities. [M.l gulrajani] colour_measurement_principles,_ad() Colour-mixture systems The basic idea of a colour-mixture system is to show, in the form of material standards, the sequence of colours related either to manipulation of the controls of a tristimulus colorimeter or to variation in simple ways of the proportions of sector areas.

Colour is an important quality attribute in the food and bioprocess industries, and it influences consumer’s choice and preferences. Food colour is governed by the chemical, biochemical, microbial and physical changes which occur during growth, maturation, postharvest handling and processing. Colour - Colour - The measurement of colour: The measurement of colour is known as colorimetry. A variety of instruments are used in this field. The most sophisticated, the spectrophotometers, analyze light in terms of the amount of energy present at each spectral wavelength.
The emittance curves for light sources (see figure) are typical spectrophotometer results, as is the reflectance curve. Get this from a library. Colour measurement and mixture. [William de Wiveleslie Abney, Sir; Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge (Great Britain).

Aristotle viewed colour to be the product of a mixture of white and black, and this was the prevailing belief untilwhen Isaac Newton’s prism experiments provided the scientific basis for the understanding of colour.
The original CIE Y, x, y system of colour measurement is not visually uniform (Fig. a).Constant hue and chroma are distorted and equal visual distances increase several-fold from purple-red to green.
Improved spacing has been accomplished by both linear and non-linear transformations of Y, x, y ().Near uniform colour spaces of practical importance are the Hunter and the CIELUV and Cited by: A.K.
